Inspirational Movie Favorites

During the school year it is very easy to get overwhelmed and you may sometimes feel defeated. I know that sometimes when I feel stressed out, I love to find a movie or show to watch to get my mind off of things. In this post I found some great movies and tv shows to get you feeling motivated and inspired!

  1. My Beautiful Broken Brain

This movie shows the strength of a girl named Lotje Sodderland who suffered from a stroke. She lost her ability to be able to function on her own. She had to basically start over and learn how to speak, walk, and take care of herself. This movie documents her struggles but, also her strength in slowly regaining abilities and overcoming this setback. See the trailer with the link below! Talk about inspiring, this it it!

2. So B. It

This is about a 12 year old girl named Heidi. Heidi is strong minded and very independent, but doesn't have the easiest life. She has a mentally disabled mother. Heidi and her mom live with their next door neighbor who has to take care of them. So, just from that you can see they do not have the easiest life. The movie follows Heidi's journey in searching for her family, which she knows nothing about. This movie should empower you to never give up on the things you set your sights on!

A lot of you may have already seen this movie. But, I couldn't resist! This is such an uplifting and fun movie. For those of you have not seen this movie yet, I will definitely convince you to take some time to watch it. This film came out in 2007 and it has some amazing actors and actresses in it, including Zac Efron. It takes place in the 1960s, when there was a lot of segregation, among other things. The main part of the story follows a high school student named Tracy who dreams about performing on tv with her favorite local tv show. Tracy gets the courage to audition for the show but the producers and dancers make fun of her looks and size and kicks her out of auditions. Throughout the movie you can see different characters overcoming the struggle of getting bullied for how they are. This is just the movie for you if you need a pick me up and a sprinkle of inspiration. I don't want to give away what happens at the end, so hopefully you will watch to find out!

4. " A Ballerina's Tale"

I know I already suggested a documentary, but this one I just couldn't leave it. It is truly inspirational. This movie is centered around Misty Copeland. Her dream was to become a ballerina with a dance company. But, there was always a certain look that all ballerinas had. She was African American and not as skinny as most dancers were. But, instead of hiding behind her insecurities she rose above them and used those exact qualities to stand out from the rest, make a name for herself, and become one of the best Ballerina dancers. Talk about GIRL POWER! Make sure to give this a watch!

Two documentaries, one family friendly movie, and a somewhat musical! These are all different genres of movies, but I am sure that they will leave you inspired to get out of your comfort zone, chase your dreams even if people say you can't, and keep trying even when things get super hard.
